Summer 2011

Aah! I know, I know, it's been a very long time since I have written anything so I think it's high time I actually do something. I've been very busy lately, with school and the rest of that jazz. So many damn changes are taking place, it's hard to keep up. Now, I know Summer has long gone, and well to be quite clear, I didn't have the best Summer ever - partly because I rarely went out! When I did, I had a complete blast, and collecting my Yr 10 GCSE results was probably my favourite day through out the entire Summer.

My friend Kimberley and I, went out during the Summer, and being the keen photographer she is, she snapped up a few pictures of me and herself in Harrow on the Hill. Although, I didn't quite follow the trends for Summer 2011, and wore very 'dull' colours, I was happy with the outfit due to it's simplicity yet trendy touch. I wish my chubby face could be a lot more sleeker, though!

Shoes - New Look
Trousers - Zara
Top - River Island
Sunglasses - H&M
Bag - Debenhams

I recently cut my hair, because it was very damaged! The hairdresser thought I could pull of a vintage cut, so now I've got one. Following my haircut, I went to Whitely's in Bayswater and visited the vintage store, 'Victory Vintage', I managed to bag a vintage makeover to go with my hair, and was a very happy girl!
Anyway, that's all for today! I know this post wasn't much about fashion, but well, I thought it was more relevant to fill you in on the other stuff going on in my life, quite frankly!

Aah, too close! My new 'vintage' crop - better pictures will be posted later!
Take care! I can't promise anything, but I'll blog as often as I can!

Pumped Up Kicks.

Aah, well, where do I start? Today, I spent most of the day out celebrating my friend's 15th birthday. With the dress code being semi formal, and in black and white, I didn't know what to do. BOOM. An idea hit me, why not wear an over-sized shirt with a belt, lace leggings and wedged heels? That's what I did. Unfortunately, due to so much hassle, I was unable to take any pictures of what I was wearing. Although, my friends said I looked fine, I didn't feel like myself. Something about the outfit didn't feel right. I guess it wasn't my style, even though I pulled it off to a certain extent.

My feet are killing me, and serves me right for not wearing more comfortable shoes. The main reason for this post was to share a song (and band) I recently found on YouTube. They are fantastic, and very, well, how do I put it? Cruised. Check out the song, "Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People. Although the lyrics are quite dodgy, I find the beat quite calming, even though the meaning of the song is far from being calm.

Good night!

My latest obsession.

I easily get obsessed with things, and I'm not really sure why. A month ago, on my holiday to Bangladesh, I stumbled upon the most peculiar of peculiar objects. Yes, the most peculiar of peculiar objects. As soon as I set my eyes on it, I was instantly drawn to it. It was beautiful, yet weird. As soon as it became mine, I was dying to tell the world about my new, interesting buy! Now, my animal loving friends despise me for buying such an item, but I couldn't help it, I had to get it. Most people would think I was a sick young girl for liking and purchasing such an item. Oh well. Now, I'm obsessed with it - great.

The front view of my new obsession - I just love this bag!

Close up of the head of the cobra

Yes, I went there. I now have a genuine, cobra, snake-skinned bag - with the head of the cobra on it. It was quite the price, but totally worth it, as this bag and the likes of it, are very rare. Although I find snakes repulsive, I don't mind having one turned into a bag! The bag is of medium size, and also has a strap to be used as a side bag. Weird and convenient. Once you open the bag, it has three, quite spacious compartments and some other pockets. This to me is perfect, as I can easily organize my items, in a civilised manner. The bag is also lined with genuine calf leather. A similar bag was available in a lilacy-grey colour too - the head of the cobra snake was much larger. However, I decided to take the beige, cobra skinned bag as most cobras are of that colour. Therefore, my bag would have a more 'realistic' and 'genuine' look. Another family member picked up the lilacy-grey bag. The cobra still has one of its eyes in place, and when the mouth is slightly lifted, the teeth and tongue of the snake are visible. Just thought I'd let you know that.

Strap of the bag, the handle also looks like this.

The inside

When I typed in the words; 'Cobra snake bag' into Google Images, a number of results came up, with a few being similar to my own bag. The bags which were similar to mine, were more of a whitish-grey in colour, and the shape of the bags were certainly different. The heads of the cobras, were, undoubtedly similar. Purses of such bags were also available in Bangladesh. Perhaps next time I will get a purse to match my quite extraordinary bag. I still haven't used the bag, but will do tomorrow, when I will be out with a group of friends, celebrating one of my closest friend's birthday! Happy 15th Lorien!

Tell me what you think of the bag - even if you hate it, I would like to know your opinion!

New, and all over town.

Well, hey there. For a while, I've been wanting my own blog, it didn't matter what it was on, I just wanted a blog. A few months ago, I was able to do just that. Unfortunately, the blog was unable to measure up to the standards I wanted it to be at. Sad times. So, after months of pondering and faffing around, here's my new blog. Now, I'm still fairly new to all of this jazz, and I'm still trying to set up this blog the way I want to. Not as easy as I thought it would be.

The name of my blog, is well, how do I put it? Awkward. Yes, yes I know, but hey, I was inspired by the most random of things. I spent a while coming up with a name which I thought was quirky yet interesting...and alas! 'Chewing my Lips' was what I came up with. Well, at least I think it's an interesting name, but I don't really know about you, though. I came up with this name whilst I was literally, chewing my lips. Yes, I tend to do that - bad habit. Also, the name shares a close tie with one of my favourite electro-indie bands; "Chew Lips". I was inspired, ever so slightly. Hmmm.

This blog will be focusing on my quest to find myself, who I really am, what I really am. The blog will revolve around my journey to self discovery - especially when it comes to fashion and style. Now and then I will rant about how baffling and unfair life can be for a teenager - but only sometimes. The blog will showcase my likes and dislikes on various things such as music, but especially around the world of fashion. Yes, this is like my own personal diary to a certain extent. I will be highlighting on what to me, is one of the most important factors of, and in my life; my sense of style.

Let's see where all of this blogging takes me, wish me the best!
